Timing Pulley Plating in Air Cooled Heat Exchange ACHE

Timing Pulley Plating in Air Cooled Heat Exchange ACHE

ACHE timing pulley are lighter weight than standard TL timing pulley. The reduced length through bore allows for closer mounting of the pulley on the shaft, reducing overhung loading. Rust resistant is critical for timing pulley use in ACHE, it affects both belt and pulley life and thus running cost

Description

Many industrial applications face problemsassociated with rusting parts. Timing Pulley used in very wet or humidenvironments, such as air moving drives on cooling towers or woodkilns, are often facing corrosion. The constant effects of the wet airsurrounding the belt drive can cause excessive rust.

Corrosion attackstiming pulley grooves, building up rust deposits. The corrosion will increase overtime, building up in the timing pulley grooves and non-driving surfaces (flanges, pulley faces, bushing face). Timing Pulley with corrosion in the grooves willrapidly wear the belt's teeth and wear through the abrasion resistant toothfabric, resulting in tooth shear and premature belt failure.

When an applicationis in a corrosive environment, the designer may elect to use special timing pulley and bushings to prevent premature failures. Using special stainless steel timing pulley and bushings or electroless nickel-plated timing pulley can help eliminatecorrosion as a cause of failure on belt drives located in these damagingenvironments.
